Moving into Cantelowes House

Making an informed choice about where to live

Before making any decision, you should first visit Cantelowes House, and other residential homes in the area, to assess which best meets your particular needs.

Visits can be arranged at any time by contacting the manager, who will be happy to show you around Cantelowes House, along with friends/family/Social Services.  You’ll be introduced to members of staff and residents in the home, shown the facilities and provided with written terms and conditions so you can assess the quality and suitability of the home.

How to apply to move into Cantelowes House

If you think Cantelowes House is where you would like to live, you can apply to the manager directly if you are self-funded.  Alternatively, please inform your Social Worker that you would like to be considered for Cantelowes House.

Once the manager is informed that you are considering Cantelowes House the manager will contact you and arrange for a member of our staff to visit you in your own home.  The purpose of this meeting is for us to gain a clear picture of what help you might need.  If there is more than one room available, we’ll agree between us which one would suit you best.

If you have still not visited Cantelowes House at this point, perhaps because you are in hospital, we will contact your family or your Social Worker to arrange this.

When you move in

On moving into your room, you will find it furnished with a bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside table and chair, etc.  You are welcome to replace any of these with your own furniture.  You may also choose to hang paintings, mirrors, etc. on the wall to make it feel more like home.  A key for your room is available on request.

Each resident has a key worker allocated to them. Your health, personal and social care needs are set out in an individual care plan, which is agreed by you and your key worker when you first move in, and then reviewed on a monthly basis. Your care plan includes risk assessment, as well as your recreational, cultural, religious and mobility needs.
